2014-2015 HEP Graduate Spotlight

 

Yolanda Barbier Gibson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Marymount University, a Master of Arts in Community College Teaching from George Mason University, and completed her doctoral degree at George Mason in Community College Education. Yolanda currently serves as the Associate Dean of First Year Experience at Marymount University. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her two daughters, Joelle and Gabrielle, and her husband James.

 

 

Michael Perini received a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and History, summa cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2003, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Alpha Theta, as well as a Master of Arts in History from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2006. Additionally inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, he completed his Doctor of Arts program under the direction of Dr. Jaime Lester in 2015. Having spent the past 8 years at Mason in operational and research positions in the library, Michael will join Virginia International University in June 2015 as the General Education/Faculty Training and Research Coordinator. This role will involve aspects of advising, faculty evaluation, assessment, and research.  

 

 

Richmond, VA native Latisha Taylor will be moving down to North Carolina to begin her Student Affairs journey career advising at Elon University's Student Professional Development Center in Elon, North Carolina. During her time at Mason, she was a Graduate Assistant in Housing and Residence Life and a Graduate Intern with University Career Services. She has enjoyed her two years in the Higher Education program and can't wait to apply everything she has learned for the betterment of student development.

 

 

Megan Tucker can't believe it's over! Her educational background is in English and Communication, with degrees from Christopher Newport University and George Mason University. She graduated this semester with a PhD in Education in the Higher Education program and a secondary focus in Communication. Her professional goals are to teach Communication at the college level, work as an academic advisor, and continue to research communication education. She just accepted a position with the National Communication Association in Washington D.C. to work as Project Manager on the Student Learning Outcomes in Communication research grant. She will also continue to work as an adjunct in the Communication Department here at Mason!
