Dr. Lester was nominated for this award by her students in the fall 2012 semester. After being selected as a semi-finalist in mid-December, she was required to submit a detailed teaching portfolio to the selection committee, who was impressed with both the breadth and depth of her portfolio and how her portfolio showcased the quality of her work. The portfolio highlighted her dedication to course planning and preparation; curriculum development; and innovative teaching, advising, and student mentoring.
Dr. Lester was honored at a reception on April 15th in the main lobby of the Center for the Arts. She received $2,000 and funding of up to $1,000 to support her teaching and learning activities.
