PhD Candidate, Education Concentration in Higher Education

JADA CROCKER

George Mason University doctoral candidate, Jada Crocker, has been selected as one of four recipients of the 2025 NCAA Graduate Student Research Grant. Now in its 19th year, this program provides financial support to graduate students in the social and behavioral sciences whose work examines issues connected to college sports.

Crocker’s research project, On the Sidelines of Success: Academic Advising Experiences of Division I Black/African American Student-Athletes at Minority Serving Institutions, was chosen by a national review panel of faculty and athletics administrators. Each awardee receives funding of up to $7,500, with the expectation that projects will lead to scholarly publications or be incorporated into a thesis or dissertation.

This recognition highlights Crocker’s scholarly contributions and reflects the continued impact of George Mason’s Higher Education program in advancing research on the student-athlete experience. Read more about the award here.
