HEP Doctoral Student wins Patriot Academic Advisor Inspiration Award

Sara Montiel, one of HEP's Doctoral Candidates, was recognized for being in the 15th year of her service during the University Green Day on the November of 8th, 2022 and was awarded the Patriot Academic Advisor Inspiration Award!  

The Patriot Academic Advisor Inspiration Award recognizes a member of the George Mason academic advising community who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to, understanding of, and application of effective diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in their academic advising of students. The recipient of this award receives a $250 monetary prize and a plaque of recognition which will be presented at the Academic Advisor of the Year Awards Ceremony each spring.

 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Academic advisor who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to, understanding of, and application of effective diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in their academic advising of students. 
  • Undergraduate academic advisor only.
  • Must have worked at Mason in role of academic advisor for at least 1 year.

Sara Montiel was recognized for her excellence in academic advising based on the quality of the departmental nomination she received.
