Shelby Kruczek has been awarded a $3,000 research award from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences to conduct summer research. Her thesis will use narrative inquiry to examine educational experiences of refugee women in the D.C. metro area during significant stages of transition and integration into U.S. society. She expects this qualitative research to present a richer, more nuanced understanding of female refugee student expectations, challenges, and attitudes related to navigating higher education in the U.S.
