This year, HEP student Heather Aleknavage will serve as the District 29 Area 22 Director of Toastmasters International. In her role as director, she directly links clubs and members to the district.
GMU Toastmasters is Heather's home club and is a community-based club with about 24 members made up of Mason faculty, staff, and students, as well as community members. They meet for an hour each week to learn and practice communication and leadership skills. Their meetings are held every Wednesday from 12:00 – 1:00. On-campus locations vary, but the full schedule is listed on their website.
There are many reasons why people join Toastmasters. A few reasons include personal growth, professional development, meeting new people, networking and more. Guests are welcome to visit a meeting as many times as they want without incurring any commitments.
