HEP Student Awarded National Research Grant

Adrienne Thompson, Kim Holmes, and Issac Agbeshie-Noye received the Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention, in Higher Education’s (NODA) 2018 – 2019 Catalyst Grant for their study “Perceptions of Sense of Belonging in Transfer Students.”  The study explores how transfer students develop a sense of belonging.  By exploring transfer student sense of belonging after the first semester, the findings of the study will provide rich data to better assess learning outcomes associated for transitional program targeted towards transfer students.  In addition, by segmenting the samples based on their semester of admission, they hope to deepen knowledge around how this timing could affect a student's ability to successfully transition to a new campus environment.  They will be presenting on their research at the 2018 NODA Annual Conference in San Diego, CA in October.  https://www.nodaweb.org/page/catalyst_grants
