Catalog Course Description
Explores instructional interactions and communication strategies for diverse learner populations. Includes discussion of sociological, behavioral, and cognitive theory on culture.
Purpose and Teaching Method
Designed to promote an understanding of multiple cultures (including one’s own), this course encourages students to explore their own identities, identities of others, acquire expertise in interacting with various populations, and apply that knowledge to create and advocate for equitable and welcoming learning environments in higher education. Together, you and I will gain greater understanding of how we can competently serve people of multiple cultures. We will accomplish this together through reading, applying theory, writing, dialoguing in small and large groups, reflecting, assessing an organization, experiencing small and large group activities, and analyzing case studies.

Enrollment limited to students with a class of Advanced to Candidacy, Graduate, Junior Plus, Non-Degree or Senior Plus.
Enrollment is limited to Graduate, Non-Degree or Undergraduate level students.
Students in a Non-Degree Undergraduate degree may not enroll.
