Lori Cohen Scher joined the Higher Education Program in January 2013 in the part-time role of Director of Academics. In this capacity she is responsible for supervision of the MAIS and Doctor of Arts Practicum/Internship.
Lori also serves as an Assistant Dean with University Life. In this role she provides strategic leadership for the student affairs unit at Mason's Arlington Campus along with other divisional initiatives. In Arlington she facilitates the provision of core University Life and academic/enrollment programs and services and implements programs and professional development initiatives aimed at fostering a unified campus community for a graduate and professional student population. Lori also oversees assessment, reporting, and data management related to student needs and learning outcomes, and she continually promotes collaboration between academic units, student organizations, and external partners.
Her primary research interests are student services, graduate student engagement, student and academic affairs collaboration, international branch campus development, and educational policy.
Lori has been with George Mason University since May 2005. She holds a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, an M.A. from the University of Minnesota, and a Ph.D. in Education Policy from George Mason University.
