Degree Requirements
Students must complete a minimum of 55/65 credits beyond the masters degree.
Education Core (29 credits), which includes 8 credits of general culture; 12 credits of research methods; and 9 credits of higher education (CTCH), which includes the 3-credit internship requirement.

Higher Education
CTCH 821: History of Higher Education in the US (3 CR)
CTCH 826: Institutional & Program Assessment in Higher Education (3 CR)
CTCH 830: Ethics and Higher Education (3 CR)
Transfer courses: Students may transfer up to 32 credits from another accredited institution, with only 6 credits from GMU’s Extended Studies, non-degree graduate status, if they meet University requirements as well as the approval of HEP. Students cannot transfer in classes that have been applied to another degree program.
Consortium courses: A maximum of 6 credits taken through the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area (These credits are counted as resident and not transfer credit.)
